“Breaking News” is an examination of the dark, current state of the world through songs like “Social Unrest”, “Breaking News” and “New Chapter” but also a hope for a brighter tomorrow as reflected in “I Wanna Dance” and “Sweet Morning Sun”. The 11-track album was crafted in a few months in Seattle during the forced isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and then recorded in France.
For lovers of the Reggae genre such as I, the generation of Jamaican singers born of the 1940s and 1950s inhabit a special place in our hearts. These singers’ voices encapsulate and carry the suffering of their colonial past, the defiance of their independence, and the joy of emancipation in their music. Clinton Fearon is part of that foundation as we know it today. His music, ever reminiscent of an unstoppable current of water, sometimes flowing and sometimes crashing, is always quenching to the thirst of a music aficionado.
In “Breaking News”, Clinton has delivered to us yet another brilliant and salient work of art, certain to become a staple in any serious music collection.
